In September of 2015, we launched a civil class action in the Northern Territory Supreme Court on behalf of 83 former residents of the Retta Dixon Home, an Aboriginal children’s home run by Australian Indigenous Ministries (AIM), under the supervision of the Commonwealth Government. Generations of children were systematically abused in the home between the 1940s and 1980s. The Home was the subject of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, in Case Study 17 of 2014.
We are now preparing for a mediation with the Federal Government and AIM. The following news story provides a snap-shot of the litigation process so far:
